I wanted to recreate a 19th century image, my academic background as Historian guided me to a theme that I know well: the Italian Unification. This scene shows an old writing table with a letter from Giuseppe Garibaldi, world renowned hero (his portrait is in the frame on the wall). I wanted to recreate the ambiance that can be found in the romantic paintings of the time, intimate and warm, but yet full of symbolic meaning.
